glass
Welcome to my fantasy. I have begun carving small cameo pieces to be heated and placed inside the glass as it is being blown into a vessel, and some pieces on the outside. A little like carved graal, the inclusions float in a deep sea of glass, softly blown out like a day dream. I have followed these with pictures of traditional colour cased cameo vessels I have engraved. These show the challenge to create glass art with a new style and method that refers to and respects the outstanding achievements and traditions of glass engraving.

Iris after van Gough. 20cms.tall. Cameo carved inclusions. Blown by Philip Stokes Studio Glass. The flowers are so deep within the glass they seem to be in another world, or at least through a window into another space.
